Ahead of their appearance at Plymouth Pavilions next month, Britpop legends Blur have unveiled 2 new songs via their twitter feed http://twitter.com/#!/blurofficial
It’s been a long time coming and fans will surely lap these up. Classic Blur? Maybe, maybe not but Under the Westway certainly retains that Blur ballad feel. Jury’s still out on The Puritan….bit too much Bontempi organ and not enough Coxon.
Here they are for your listening pleasure :)
We’ve snagged ourselves a copy of the magnificent all-conquering second album from Straight Lines.

If like me, you like to listen to something that you can really relax to, and love them as I do sometimes Biffy Clyro or New Found Glory just won’t cut the mustard. I received a Facebook update from a mate of mine from Cardiff a few months back asking everyone he knew to check out his sister (not in that way you sick little monkey’s) Now normally I’d have just ignored him as I do most of his posts, but I had nothing better to do so I clicked on said link and gave the tunes an airing. To say I was shocked would be an understatement…if you know Greta’s brother you’d understand what I mean :)
What immediately struck a chord was the purity of Greta’s voice, that combined with very simple arrangements of guitar and piano. This all works to make some truly wonderful songs. It’s no secret on this site that I love The Staves, with other acts like Emily and the Woods hot on their heels. Greta Isaac fits very nicely into this genre and I’m sure given enough time she’s got all the qualities there to do something quite special.
Please have a listen to some of the tunes. I’d recommend an open fire and some wine or beer to be at hand as you melt away.
If you like what you hear then please go to the following place where I’m sure Greta will be happy to hear from you.
Yesterday, Jack Penate released his new video for the song ‘No One Lied’. As far as ‘Everything Is New’ was a departure from his debut ‘ Matinee’ this song changes tack again for the versatile musician. The song is simple, haunting and absolutely beautiful. But I can’t help wishing he was still pumping out tunes with the fervour of Second, Minute or Hour.
